The Firewarden of Hofheim: Putting vision into reality Print

Sectional doorsAfter a building time of one and a half year, the new firewarden in Hofheim was officially put into operation on November 14, 2003.

The firewarden introduces new aspects of functionality and architecture, so that we are proud to have made a contribution to this project.

Just like all other great building projects this one also started on a green meadow.

At the beginning no outsider could imagine the impressive and at once extraordinary appealing and future design of the fire warden.

Excavation

Once the deepest point had been reached, things could only go upward. And this is the time the doors come into play.

Hall openings which represented the access to the new home of the firewarden vehicles needed to be closed.

Exterior view

As you can see on the picture of the future exercise yard, we were early entrusted with the task of supplying and fitting doors (in this case folding doors opening to the outside).

Fire drill court

Already after a short time this place looked considerably different.

It is the powder coating which has not been done in the usual RAL 3000 that is remarkable and gives the object a personal touch.

Very soon, BOTHE-HILD was involved in greater activities at the front of the building. Right behind the scaffolding could be seen the first ones of a number of doors that were specially developed for this building situation.

Only a few weeks later, after the scaffoldings have been removed and the door installation has been finished, you got a first impression of the future firewarden.

A characteristic feature of the doors is their transversal position. This clearly has advantages:

  • Between the front of the vehicle and the door is enough space to comfortably walk through between the two. The light barriers arranged in the frame area are not constantly misplaced or even torn off by passenger traffic.
  • The transversal position of the door leafs ensures a maximum incidence of light, so that the interior of the hall is flooded with light.

Now that all the doors have been installed, the vehicles of the Hofheim fire station have found an appealing new home.

You can see the entire vehicle park on the following picture.

We thank both the city of Hofheim for their trust in us and the architectural office Kplan for the good cooperation. We wish the firewarden all the best in its new home.
