A door rides a roller coaster Print
Special direction changeSpecial building conditions ask for special solutions. Being “the door builders” in Germany, we do not shrink away from breaking new and unusual grounds in the direction change of sectional doors. Normally the running rails of sectional doors are always built with a certain slope off the installation height. On the one hand this downward slope towards the opening leads to an autonomous closing of the door. On the other hand it keeps up the rope tension, because the weight of the door is constantly hold by the ropes.

In the topical case a normal installation with backwards rising running rails would have led to losses of the height of the door. Furthermore, traffic in the back area behind the grid binder would have been restricted by running rails sloping into the hall. The backward slope amounts to 21.5°.

Special direction changeIn order to solve these problems caused by the building’s geometry and the available insertion depths, we broke a new ground. In order to profit from every single centimetre, we first ran up the door for then let follow a “negative” slope. The crux of this matter consists in the push-start torque in order to put the dominant part of the door weight in a vertical position. In this case the push-start was achieved by specially strengthened, extra-long gas pressure buffers supporting the door closing past the critical point. Naturally, the door is operated by an electric drive.
